Lucky Boys Confusion, a rock band based in Chicago, played a long-awaited show at the Hi-Fi in Indianapolis last Saturday. Lucky Boys Confusion returned to the music scene this year after a hiatus with the release of their new record, “Stormchasers.”

The first band that played was Plans, a pop punk band from Indy. They brought with them to the stage a good sense of humor as well as some heavy stories behind the songs from their 2016 EP, “Ending // Starting.” Their music has serious feeling, and the band was energetic and emotive as they played. They became light-hearted between songs though, effectively balancing out the intense energy and connecting to the crowd with their candid nature.

Alvarez Kings, an alternative band from South Yorkshire, UK, took the stage next. Alvarez Kings filled the venue with synth infused jams that got the crowd moving. Their sound varies from slow melodic beats, like “Fear to Feel,” to faster songs like “Sleepwalking, Pt. II.” Toward the end of their set, the lead singer hopped off the stage and sang from within the crowd before closing out with “Somewhere Between.”

When Lucky Boys Confusion came on, the floor immediately started bouncing as fans began to jump and dance around the room. The band mixed their set-list well, playing old fan favorites, as well as newer songs from “Stormchasers.” One of the older songs that really got the crowd hyped was “Do You Miss Me (Killians),” from their 2001 record, “Throwing The Game.” The band interacted a lot with the crowd throughout their set, and at one point the lead singer invited a fan up on stage to sing a part of a song. Through the whole night, the energy in both the crowd and band never diminished.
